FACULDADES INTEGRADAS RIO BRANCO Social communication The 10th Communication Week gathered teachers and professionals of Jornalism, Advertisement, Public Relations, Radio and TV, and Publishing, who shared experiences and enlightened the discussion of several themes proposed by FRB. Lectures focusing on the past and present of Brazilian press, digital communication, production of independent movies and the role of social networks provided an overview of different contemporary media and their meaning in students’ future professional lives. At the 2nd edition of Festcom, a festival that stimulates the production of videos of up to 70 seconds, 12 fi nalists were submitted to the judgment of teachers, specialists and students. They were also competing for a special prize. “Caminhos Cruzados” (Crossed Pathways), by Thassia Travaglioni and Beatriz Pascon, students in the 7th semester of Radio and TV, won three out of the four prizes. The specialized jury’s prize awarded “Síria 2009”, a fi lm by Dania Inayeh, student in the 3rd semester of Radio and TV. To close the week, Communication students organized an exciting talent show. Marina Person Administration, Economic Sciences and Foreign Trade Under the theme “Brazil, present and future: corporate perspective and educational challenge”, the 8th Week of Administration, Economic Sciences and Foreign Trade highlighted several themes of interest, such as the importance of entrepreneurship, environmentally responsible activities and pioneering as way to promote sustainable competitiveness in businesses, among others. The president of FIESP (Industry Federation of the State of São Paulo), Benjamin Steinbruch, businessman in the metallurgy industry emphasized the value of education and the willingness to undertake new projects, advising youths to set, and go after, challenges that might seem impossible. After the speech, Benjamin Steinbruch was honored by Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo president, Eduardo de Barros Pimentel, who gave him his school Eduardo de Barros Pimentel, Benjamin Steinbruch transcript from the time he studied at Colégio Rio Branco. and Nahid Chicani INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR 3rd São Paulo International Branding Seminar’ 10 The 3rd São Paulo International Branding Seminar’ 10, coordinated by Antônio Roberto de Oliveira, responsible for the MBA in Branding at FRB, had as theme Branding Sustainability: People, Planet, Profi t. Experts in the Branding fi eld, both from Brazil and abroad, proposed refl ections about issues related to brand sustainability, taking the people, the planet, and profi t into account. Presentations debated core issues such as the importance to align the brand to organizations’ profi les, the need to fully understand the value of products and services to build a strong brand, as well as the role of social media to add value to a brand, in light of consumption experiences lived and reported by different audiences.
