Annual Report 2011 COLÉGIO RIO BRANCO At the end of another working year, Colégio Rio Branco once again celebrates the performance of its students, who behaved with ethics and showed citizenship in several different environments, involving themselves and acting with responsibility, facing the challenges of a globalized and competitive world with a positive attitude. In the Arts and Culture field, the school celebrated 25 years of the Rio Branco Theather and 15 years of the Rio Branco’s Choir – gratifying experiences that have been perfected throughout time and several generations of students. Students experienced the importance of research and communication with the public in the opportunities in which they had to create Art in other areas. Cultural exchanges, through the exchange program with fellow Portuguese students, proved to be a rich experience, ascertaining that young people from different countries share common concerns regarding several issues. In science, cultural and scientific field trips resulted in significant works in the Chemistry, Botanics and Biology worlds. Productions in Robotics combined Physics, Math and Design knowledge, showing the students’ ability in applying this knowledge and expressing their creativity. In the Sports department, the victories achieved in and outside the school were a way of reinforcing the importance of teamwork. With regards to forming citizens, several manifestations from the students expressed the importance of preserving the environment and dedication to volunteer work. The mission that the School aims to accomplish is possible, each year, thanks to the work of dedicated teachers and support from the families. These teachers seek constant improvement of teaching and learning methods, stimulating effective responses from the students. Families, aligned with the school’s project, are also responsible for their children appreciating knowledge, showing them in an evident manner the results of their achievements. 50
