Annual Report 2011 FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS The School held several activities with the purpose of turning its physical space into a comfortable environment for families, generating opportunities of integration with the school life and discussions with experts regarding issues that affect the education of children and teenagers. Back to School When school began – marked by the joy of the students returning to school and the natural anxiety of new students, especially the younger ones - a special day was scheduled for each grade: parent-teacher-student meetings contributed to the comprehension of the features of each grade, the activities and curriculum planned and evaluation system. Individual meetings were held with the parents of new students, to supplement the collective meetings. Family Day Family Day was celebrated in both units of the Colégio Rio Branco through artistic manifestations of the students, uniting the school and the families. At the Granja Vianna Unit, Pre-School to 5th Grade students performed a song about the beauties of the Amazon and built a great mosaic with family photos, symbolizing family power. At the Higienópolis Unit, Pre-School to 5th Grade students honored their parents by singing popular songs. Autonomy, according to the lecturer, is a result of maturity and is only reached in the plenitude of adulthood. Focusing on the issue of ethics, Rosely Sayão proposed a reflection on how to act in an integral manner towards each other, in a world marked by individualism.
