Annual Report 2011 VI Deaf Students Sports and Culture Festival Students from the Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco successfully participated in the VI Festival Esportivo e Cultural de Alunos Surdos held by São Paulo City School System. The students competed in relay races, dodge-ball and 100 meter race, obtaining, respectively, gold, silver and bronze medals. During the Festival, students competed in several modalities Children’s Day To celebrate Children’s Day, students participated in a championship along with teachers and school staff, and received books from the writer Patricia Engel Secco and a DVD with jokes told in Libras - Brazilian Sign Language by the school’s teachers. OUTINGS Clube Hípico de Santo Amaro (Santo Amaro Equestrian Club) To mark the end of one of the stages of school life, represented by the passing from pre-school to First Grade, the students went to a hotel in Santo Amaro and took part in activities organized by the Hotel’s staff and the school, among which was an outing to the Clube Hípico de Santo Amaro which, with the school’s orientation, prepared itself to properly receive the group. Students visited the Equestrian Club Santo Amaro Águas de Lindóia 5th year students celebrated the end of Elementary School with a trip to Hotel Fazenda M1 (a Farm Hotel), in Águas de Lindóia, a leisurely and recreation trip that rewarded the students’ efforts and dedication to studies. Exhibition “Água na Oca” (Water in the Hut) Conducted by specialized monitors, the students went to an exhibition dealing with the relationship between water and the planet held at the Oca building in Ibirapuera Park. They walked through interactive installations and saw experiments in the fields of Physics, Biology and Art, involving water. Parque Zoológico Municipal Quinzinho de Barros (City Zoo Quinzinho de Barros) The trip to the Parque Zoológico Municipal Quinzinho de Barros, located in the city of Sorocaba, was accompanied by teachers and by Dino Samaja, director of the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo, who offered this outing to the students. 76
