ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION The Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo participated in Rotary International Convention held in Montreal in June. FRSP’s booth gathered the Portuguese-speaking community and Rotarians from different countries interested in learning about the educational works of the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo maintained entities as well as the activities the CIP-Plop (Inter-country Committee Brazil-Portugal and Offi cial Portuguese Speaking Countries), supported by the Foundation. Dissemination material in fi ve languages (Portuguese, Spanish, English, French, and Japanese) presented Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, Colégio Rio Branco, Centro Profi ssionalizante Rio Branco and Escola para José Antonio Figueiredo Antiório, Eduardo de Barros Pimentel, Célia and Mario Antonino, and Antônio Hallage Crianças Surdas Rio Branco to the readers, creating possibilities for new contributions and partnerships with similar foreign entities. CIP-Plop activities, focused on promoting the relationship among Rotarians of Portuguese-speaking countries for the undertaking of social, economic, and cultural projects, have raised the interest of Rotarians from those countries who have brought forward proposals of activities in their own clubs that may benefi t from the contribution of their Eduardo de Barros Pimentel, Ed Futa and José Alfredo Pretoni fellows around the world. VINTERNATIONAL VISITS Rotary International president On February 11, the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo welcomed the honored visit of the 2010-2011 president of Rotary International, John Kenny and his wife June. A Rotarian from Scotland, John Kenny chose the idea that “Rotary’s future is in our hands” as the motto for his management, meaning that all Rotarians have the power to act for the common good. After touring the facilities of the institutions based at Granja Vianna Unit, such as Colégio Rio Branco, Centro Profi ssionalizante Rio Branco and the Escola para Crianças Surdas Rio Branco, among others, John Kenny said he was impressed with the magnitude of the school project, which makes sure children and teenagers may fully develop their abilities, emphasizing the social and humanitarian mission of professionally preparing low-income youths. At Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, John Kenny was honored with a commemorative plaque celebrating his visit.
