GLOBALIZATION Study trip to Italy and Spain Educators from the maintained entities of the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo visited schools in Italy (Lombardy) and Spain (Cataluña) in order to get to know the educational practices of those countries. The trip was promoted by the Union of Educational Institutions of the state of São Paulo. The pre and elemetary school academic supervisor at Higienópolis Unit, Maria Margarida Silveira, academic supervisor at Escola para Crianças Surdas Rio Branco, Débora Kober, and the coordinator of the Pedagogy course of the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, Maria Alice Rocha, took part in the study trip. The educators visited public, private and technical schools in Spain and Portugal, which are well-known for their investments in teacher training, and effi cient application of advanced methodologies. Such institutions are undergoing a moment of consolidation of educational policies which aim to integrate cultures and values of children from different member states of the European Union. Visit of Study Groups The Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo received two groups of young professionals from the United Stated attending the Study Group Exchange (IGE) program of Rotary International. IGE from North Carolina social workers Alicia Goldsby and Christina Fulks, and public relations Beth Stevenson who visited Granja The group from North Carolina was accompanied by the Vianna Unit, getting to know the projects and facilities of president of Rotary Club de Cotia, Oswaldo Bandeira Jr., the the Colégio Rio Branco, of the Centro Profi ssionalizante president of Rotary Club the Cotia - Granja Vianna Empresarial, Rio Branco and of Escola para Crianças Surdas Rio Marco de Fiori, the 2011-12 Governor of District 4610, Ligeia Branco. Welcomed by International Relations manager Stivanin, who represented the 2010-11 Governor, Reinaldo Roberto Bedrikow, the visitors learned about CIP-Plop Domingos, and the Rotarian Sônia Casanova. (Inter-countries Committee Brazil, Portugal and Offi cial Members of the group were team leader Jim Wendling, Portuguese Speaking Countries) works, which promote administrators Leigh Stricklan and LaTonya M.
