Annual Report 2010

Upon presenting the 2010 Annual Report, we restate our purpose of seeking and offering the best educational practices, with a vision of the future, so as to form citizens prepared to act in and contribute to an ever-changing world. The facts described herein were, in the old days, a dream for the future. As educators, we are eternal visionaries, constantly identifying possibilities of innovating and renewing conditions so that our students may become fully accomplished as ethical and solidary citizens, and fi nd ways to express their talents and competencies. We are a educational corporation with a well-defi ned mission, a long-term strategic plan, and governance based on the principles of transparency, fairness, accountability, responsibility and teamwork. Our vision drives us towards projects which not only anticipate needs – in the fi eld of knowledge, access to new technologies, respect to the environment and to physical and social differences – but that also promptly respond to them, transforming them in soundly founded actions based on our beliefs and values. Having the privilege of being reappointed to the presidency for another three years, the future depicts itself as a rich opportunity to continue serving the society of São Paulo through education, thus matching up to the confi dence placed in the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo (São Paulo Rotarians Foundation) in the last sixty-fi ve years. Every year, our joy is renewed as we go over the accomplishments of each maintained entity, aligned with our ideal of offering excellence in education with tradition and modernity values. In the face of globalization, a phenomenon of our era, educational benchmarking is critical for the exchange of experiences with other countries. That is the focus of our relentless work, the reason why we send managers and educators to countries of notorious development in the fi eld of education. Welcoming educators and professionals from other countries, through Rotary International, is also a very special opportunity of sharing our ideals, projects and actions with the international community. The recently established partnerships between the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco (Rio Branco College) and the Universities of Alberta, in Canada, and of Pittsburgh, in the United States, represent an opportunity of mutual transfer of knowledge and experiences, enriching the academic lives of students and professors. Still in the fi eld of internationality, the activities of the CIP-Plop (Inter-Countries Committee Brazil, Portugal and Offi cial Portuguese Speaking Countries), which have the support and outstanding participation of the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo, highlight the importance of the union of Portuguese language Rotarians around projects of social and economic reach. The Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, throughout its 11 years of activity, has been showing its vigor, celebrated by the public acknowledgement of the level of excellence of its courses, the scientifi c and literary production of its faculty, the brilliant participation of its students in national and international competitions and exchange activities, besides the prospects of expanding its offer of courses. The permanent stimulus to research, as well as to the integration of theory and practice, has resulted in the proposal of events in which future professionals, professors and experts in different market segments refl ect upon topical issues, fulfi lling the academic role of thinking and proposing solutions for the society. Emphasizing the value of social deeds as a synonym of the ability to work for the common good, the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco takes great pride in its diverse projects that gather students around the goal of serving the community’s needs, offering 6 Annual Report 2010
