June Festivities Typical foods and dance to the sound of traditional songs amused over 5,000 people, including students, parents, teachers and guests, who gathered at both school units to celebrate São João festivities. As it happens every year, Reaja Group (Reflection, Balance and Action towards the Environment) set up their amusement booth with products referring to recyclable materials to raise funds for a landscape and a kitchen garden project to benefit a public school in São Paulo. At Granja Vianna unit, the party gathered students from the School and from the Escola para Crianças Surdas Rio Branco, integrating deaf and hearing people through the language of friendship, celebration and joy. The June Festivities were marked by the integration felling EVENTS Graduation Graduation ceremonies of Elementary school and High school at Higienópolis and Granja Vianna units emphasized the value of students’ daily achievements at school, and celebrated the future of their academic lives. The School principal, Esther Carvalho, congratulated the graduating students, and highlighted the importance of learning in our lives, and the school mission to value diversity, encouraging each student’s abilities and competences. The Graduation Ceremony was a rite of passage for the students World Aids Day 8th grade students from the Colégio Rio Branco and the Centro Profissionalizante Rio Branco contributed to the event in support of the World Aids Day, promoted by the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo, with theme-based performances, making use of theater, music and modern communication technology. The students brought their message of hope for a cure, and also a message of sympathy, respect and understanding for those who have the syndrome. 68 Annual Report 2010
