Monitoring Monitoring is a project at Colégio Rio Branco that trains students, from the 9th grade on, to be part of the support team of lectures, events and field trips promoted by the school, revealing talents in dealing with people, teamwork, organization and leadership. The Monitoring Program has existed for 20 years, under the motto “Friendship, Honor and Loyalty”. In 2011, the course which forms monitors, taught by the head monitors, took place at Eduardo’s Park Hotel, at Caucáia do Alto, with the presence of around 81 students from the Higienópolis Unit and 65 from the Granja Vianna Unit. Monitoring stimulates leadership and teamwork Tribute by Fundação Getúlio Vargas For the second consecutive year, Colégio Rio Branco was honored due to the brilliant results of its students in the entrance exam for the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) Law School. During the freshman’s welcome event at FGV, Principal Esther Carvalho received compliments due to the first place obtained by student Juliana Pacetta Ruiz, who studied at Rio Branco since Pre-School. In addition to the results obtained in FGV’s entrance exam, the school also celebrated the success of over 200 students that were accepted into the main colleges of Brazil, which is a proof of the value of self-effort, of family support to the school’s proposals and of the teachers’ dedicated work. Thais Moraes, Juliana Pacetta Ruiz and Esther Carvalho ADMISSION EXAM In 2011, more than 200 students from the school passed become familiarized with college entrance exams, reflections the main admission exams in Brazil, and one of them was on careers and perfecting study methods. 1st place at the Law School of Fundação Getúlio Vargas To complement those activities, lectures were held to (FGV). These results represent a positive response to the establish “bridges” between the contents of the curriculum and set of activities carried out during High School, focusing on the current historic moment - encouraging reflection and forming university access; among these we can mention the Content of opinions on what is going on in Brazil and in the world; events Review Program which allows students to review content with information on careers and the job market, and simulations and reinforce concepts, deepening the issues worked in the of diplomatic activity, contributed to the decision-making process classroom, the “simulated exams” which allow students to with regard to the students’ professional future. Political Situation in Arabic Countries Focusing on the facts that went on in Libya and Egypt, which led to the downfall of authoritarian governments, the academic director, the coordinator and teachers from the International Relations course - respectively Alexandre Ratsuo Uehara, Denilde Holzhacker, Sergio Gil Marques dos Santos and Samuel Feldberg, presented a lecture to students from the 2nd and 3rd years of High School. The lecturers drew a profile of these countries from an economic, political and social point of view and discussed the role of social networks, of other countries and of organizations in disseminating and mediating those conflicts.
