INAUGURAL LECTURES FOR THE COURSES Parents and students attended the inaugural lectures given in the 1st and 2nd semesters for the Programa de Aprendizagem Profissional (Professional Learning Program) and the Programa de Aprendizagem Profissional para Surdos e Pessoas com Deficiência Física (Professional Learning Program for the Deaf and Disabled People). The inaugural classes of the Centro Profissionalizante Rio Branco (Cepro) represent not only a welcome, but also the moment in which the new students, with their families support, undertake the commitment to fulfill their role as students aiming for their first job. After a presentation of videos on the educational work done by the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo, maintainer of Cepro, the programs and their curriculum - illustrated with statements from current and former students, director Susana Penteado pointed out the need to respect relationship rules, cultivate positive attitudes and act accordingly to the workplace as important factors in maintaining one’s employability, in addition to technical skills per say. Susana Penteado and Cepro’s team participates in the inaugural lectures 2011 THEME AXIS “Manifest Virtues to Balance Actions” The 2011 Theme Axis “Manifest Virtues to Balance Actions” is Cepro’s director Susana Penteado emphasized the importance of the result of a research that involved all of the professional team and cultivating several virtues such as integrity, compassion, charity, was present in all activities proposed to students and apprentices, respect and honesty, among others, that contribute to improving as well as in the contact with parents. Cepro’s students worked with Theme Axis Reading and Writing Workshops The Reading and Writing Workshops are part of the Professional Learning Program and are aligned with the theme axis, consisting of reading sessions and film viewings with several examples of virtuous actions, pointed out by the students.Participants are encouraged to express themselves on the theme, based on examples of situations that they have experienced, and create texts; the best ones are read aloud to all the classes. The purpose of the Reading and Writing Workshops is to show the importance of using correctly the Portuguese language. The workshop stimulated the reading and writing habits 83
