INTERNATIONAL AWARDS HULT PRIZE IN BRAZIL The Hult Prize, a partnership between Hult International Business School and the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), awards annually USD1 million to the best idea to solve social problems. The Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco hosted the Hult Prize 2014, held for the first time in Latin America, in March. The event, which brings together teams from around the world to raise contemporary social issues and develop projects, discussed the theme Chronic Diseases in Favelas. The Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo President, Nahid Chicani, welcomed those present and highlighted the importance of hosting an international prominent event. Leticia Gonzalez-Reyes, the organizer of the Prize, also welcomed everyone, pointed out the agenda and assisted the participants. Victor Fernandes, Director of IXL Center para São Paulo and of Natura Research and Development area, and Fernando Onosaki, Director of the IXL Center para São Paulo, gave some tips on the format of the projects presented by the students 60 Annual Report 2014 to the jury, with innovative and self-sustainable ideas . Health was the theme of the second lecture delivered by the neurologist Jefferson Gomes Fernandes, superintendent of Education and Science of the German Hospital Oswaldo Cruz in São Paulo. He talked about the challenges of chronic diseases in slums and presented the opinion of the experts in the field. The third lecture, a motivational speech, was delivered by Jonah Brotman, co-founder of SokoText, Hult Prize finalist in 2013. He told about his experiences at the event, gave tips to participants on how to behave and present their work and what to do after the project completion. On the second day, the students presented their work to prominent judges as Antonio Calcagnotto, Unilever president, and Gerson Pinto, Natura president. After the presentations, the four finalists were announced, one from each room. After that, they showed their projects to the public. The winner of the regional round was the team from Indian School of Business, which proposed to implement monitoring devices in patients. The team won the USD1 million prize in September in New York, United States. The Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco general director attended the award ceremony. The year of 2014 ended with the national selection for the Hult Prize 2015, at FRB. Hult Prize 2014 winners during their participation at FRB regional round
