COLÉGIO RIO BRANCO SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Audiovisual and Communication In order to expand extracurricular activities, the school started to offer in 2010 the course “Audiovisual and Communication”. The project is developed through a partnership with the Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, which make available to students all the structure necessary to produce videos, theoretical information and workshops, in order to help students learn how to create products related to fi ction, documentary, journalism and the Internet. Sensations Circuit The students from the 2nd grade of Elementary school, blindfolded, tried and identified sounds, textures, temperatures and varied tastes, recognizing the role of all the senses in the perception of the environment. The “Sensations Circuit”, held in Ayrton Senna Hall, was also an opportunity to reflect on the main difficulties of the visually impaired and about some resources that can help overcome them. Day trip to Animal Mania (Bichomania) and Animals Inc. Students in Pre-school experienced one day in farm life, visiting Bichomania in Cotia, as part of their animal study program. The children came into contact with some cubs, in the nursery, and tried produce from the farm itself, as well as foods made in a wood stove. The study of Folklore in Pre-school led into a visit to the Animals Inc., in Cotia, in August, which showed the kids the world of Olinda’s giant fi gures, cordel literature, Saci and the Mamulengo Popular Puppet Theatre, very widespread in the state of Pernambuco.
