CES PROFESSIONAL PRESENTS WORK AT THE SESC LECTURE SERIES With the theme “Translating in cultural environments - Libras”, Mirian Caxilé presented her work in the lecture series “Hands that speak: deaf cultures and identities.” The SESC (São Paulo Center for Research and Training) conducted the lecture series “Hands that speak: deaf cultures and identities.”. The translator and interpreter of Libras and Portuguese from the Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco, Mirian Caxilé, presented the subject “Translating in cultural environments – Libras” The event addressed several topics in debates with deaf and hearing researchers, teachers, activists and professionals related to deaf causes. According to Mirian Caxilé, the objective was to show the deaf person universe to volunteers and professionals, offering preparation for contact in professional environment, school, among others. Annual Report 2014 107 Teacher Alexandre Melendes, from the Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco, has delivered a lecture at MAM - Modern Art Museum of São Paulo for its professionals, and has presented the bilingual work that has been done with deaf babies in the institution, in order to develop the art project that the museum intends to create: arts with deaf babies. II SEMINAR OF DEAF CULTURE OF STRANDS The CES teacher, Alexandre Melendes, delivered a lecture on Bilingual Education for Deaf: Perspective of the Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco at the II Seminar of Deaf Culture of Strands. The event, held in São João Del-Rei, Minas Gerais, marked the anniversary of ASSJ - Deaf Association of São João Del Rei and gathered several educators and scholars involved in the subject of deaf culture and identity.
