Annual Report 2014 111 SEMESTRAL FESTIVALS OF THE ADDITIONAL PERIOD The meeting promotes contact with the school teachers, who receive families and values the work developed by the students. The CES has offered to the elementary school students the opportunity to participate in research groups, whose topics were suggested and chosen through vote by the students, which brought out a large variety of issues such as current affairs, culture, technology, curiosity and history. The objective was to broaden and strengthen linguistic and social spaces, as well as develop and research skills, encouraging students to ask questions, collect and analyze data, make choices and reflect on the relationships that can be established with the world around them from knowledge or skills learned. At the end of each school semester, students participated in cultural festivals, when they could expose the results of their research to the family through f ilms, graphic mate r ials and models. All presentations were made on the same day of the parent-teacher conference, taking CULTURAL TOURS 4TH CULTURAL WEEK SIGNS IN ART Activities at MAM marked the achievements of the deaf community through cultural activities. Students and teachers of the Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco have attended the 4th Cultural Week Signs in Art, organized by MAM (São Paulo Museum of Modern Art). The entire schedule aimed to promote dea f cul tu re t h rough workshops presentations and guided visits to the exhibitions and poetry battles. The “Signs in Art” recalls, discloses and celebrates the achievements that have lead to living conditions improvement and access to the culture by the deaf public. Students participated in the 4th Cultural Week Signs in Art advantage of the family presence in school and motivating them to participate and honor the students’ production.
