BENCHMARKING THE SUPERINTENDENT WAS INTRODUCED TO INNOVATIVE PROJECTS ON BENCHMARKING IN FINLAND The program included different activities in the cities of Helsinki and Tampere. Since 2006, the Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo maintains a close relationship with Finland - a reference in education. In October, the superintendent Marco Rossi visited the country in an international benchmarking action. The program included different activities such as visits to universities, presentation of innovative works and meetings with authorities of the Ministry of Education and the Brazilian Embassy in that country. With the Ambassador of Brazil in Finland, Norton Rapesta, the superintendent visited CEB - Center for Brazilian Studies, which provides courses for about 170 Finns. The trip also included a meeting with the International Relations Director of the Ministry, Jaana Palojärvi, and the coordinator Helena Lalu-Toivio. The government project “Me and My City” was also presented. It was awarded as the best educational project in Europe, which gives to young adults the opportunity to experience different professions through the simulation of real situations. During a meeting at the Center for International Mobility (Cimo), an official partnership was established for a student exchange program in postgraduate courses in Finnish universities. At Helsinki University, it was presented the “Mind the Gap” project, which studies issues related to the learning effects for ‘digital natives’, and Minerva Plaza, an innovative learning environment. The superintendent Marco Rossi has also visted the Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Tamk), a partner of Fundação de Rotarianos de São Paulo for the distance learning course “Educators for the XXI Century”, for educators from Rio Branco Institutions. At the university, it was presented the Proacademy, a center of entrepreneurship that values and encourages the protagonism. 28 Annual Report 2014 APPLE EDUCATION LEADERSHIP SUMMIT 2014 The event promoted a wide discussion on technology application for education and innovative experiences in classroom. The Colégio Rio Branco General Principal, Esther Carvalho, attended the Apple Education Leadership Summit 2014, held in the city of Hollywood, Florida. The event brought together educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, publishers and professionals in the education area. During the meeting, the 209 participants had the opportunity to get in touch with presentations from researchers and professionals dedicated to understand and improve the use of technological resources in learning environments. According to the principal, the meeting was important as the participants could exchange experiences, besides being an excellent opportunity to balance the work already done in educational technology in Colégio Rio Branco and design the next steps for the area.
