The event highlighted the importance of respecting the differences and value the Brazilian Sign Language and deaf culture. Annual Report 2014 101 CES theater group performed “The empty pot”, covering topics such as perseverance, honesty and sincerity. The event had a stand up show with teacher Fábio de Sá e Silva, reading sessions with works by Cecilia Meireles and Ziraldo and dances covering topics such as respect, unity, teamwork and freedom. There was a video exhibition called “I’m Deaf” that was conceived by Carolina Coast and aims to draw the viewer’s attention to the prejudice suffered daily by deaf people. In Higienópolis, the meeting was set to the deaf and hearing students from Pre-School, and had the participation of storytellers from MAM (Modern Art Museum), Amarilis Reto and Mirela Estelles, who told stories in Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) and Portuguese. The students also participated of the “Free Choice Moment” and, as a souvenir of that special day, they received a DVD with video clips and storytelling in Brazilian Sign Language.
