BLUE SEPTEMBER MARKS THE NATIONAL DEAF DAY Teachers and staff joined the movement to remember the struggles for ensuring human, linguistic and cultural rights of the deaf community. To mark the National Deaf Day, celebrated on September 26, the Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco, the Colégio Rio Branco and the Centro Profissionalizante Rio Branco participated in the “Blue September movement.” Most of employees dressed in blue or used a ribbon of the same color, symbol of the movement. Sabine Vergamini, CES Director, said that “teachers and staff joined the movement that takes place since 2011 to remember the struggles and achievements for the guarantee of human, linguistic and cultural rights of deaf community around the world.” MONITORED VISITS Teachers and staff members during the moviment CES RECEIVED DISTINGUISHED VISITORS In 2014, the Centro de Educação para Surdos Rio Branco (CES) has presented its work to visitors from Brazil and other countries. 102 Annual Report 2014 In 2014, the CES received researchers and professionals of the deafness field and students from different educational institutions, exchanging knowledge and practices related to bilingual education for the deaf. Groups of deaf educators were received from Portugal, the Netherlands and Peru, as well as teachers and students from different educational institutions, such as “Faculdades do Sul do Brasil”, located in Toledo; from “Escola para Surdos Dulce de Oliveira”, located in Uberaba, Minas Gerais; and from the “Centro Municipal de Educação Infantil Professora Ida Vince Guerra”, from the city of São Carlos, São Paulo. CES has also received other visitors as Jamal Sobhi Azzam, otorhinolaryngologist, Ivan Mario Braun, psychiatrist, physicians and Rotarians, who had the opportunity to know the work and the infrastructure of the institution.
